One Love Skateboard Deck

This is one of my handpainted skateboard decks inspired, of course, by the lyrics to "One Love" and Rasta. You can purchase it here.

Marley Tattoo

I've been thinking of getting a Bob Marley tattoo. I'm not sure on the image yet, but there will definitely be some of his wise words involved as well!

Rasta Colors

Many people today wear Rasta colors, but a lot of those people are not really Rastafarians. The colors originated from the Ethiopian flag. There is actually a correct order of these colors, which is: red, yellow, green. The order also derives from the original Ethiopian flag. The Green represents the African land. The yellow represents the wealth of Africa, and the red represents the blood of the African people. You'll also sometimes see black. It symbolizes the color of African skin. So while wearing the colors may be fashionable, one should also be aware of what they represent within the Rastafari movement.

Bob Marley Fact

Did you know that right before Bob Marley died all of his dreadlocks had fallen out from the cancer treatments he was receiving? So after he died, they were sewn back into a wig which was placed on his head. He was also buried with his Gibson guitar.

Why I Love Bob Marley

Yes, Bob Marley was a great musician. He practically defines Reggae. I don't think many people would disagree that he is the king of Reggae much like Michael Jackson is The King of Pop, or Elvis Presley is the King of Rock-n-Roll. I think Bob Marley is actually on a slightly higher level (no pun inteneded) than even those guys for the following reason. If you were to ask someone to name 10 Rock-n-Roll stars they could easily do it. If you were to ask them to name 10 Pop stars they could easily do that as well. However, ask someone to name 10 Reggae Stars and many fewer people can do that, but I guarantee that they will name Bob Marley in that category. That's how influential he was. That's how strongly he defines that genre.
But perhaps even more than that, he was a uniter of people. That's what I love most about Bob Marley. He brought people together and promoted peace. He spoke up for the less fortunate, and he tried to better the lives of the people he touched. And almost as if by magic, he continues to unite people of all backgrounds through his message of ONE LOVE even today.

Exodus...Movement of Jah People

Men and women will fight you down
When you see Jah light
Let me tell you, if you're not wrong
Everything is all right
Walk, through the roads of creation
We're the generation
Who trod through great tribulation

Exodus, movement of Jah people...
