Yes, Bob Marley was a great musician. He practically defines Reggae. I don't think many people would disagree that he is the king of Reggae much like Michael Jackson is The King of Pop, or Elvis Presley is the King of Rock-n-Roll. I think Bob Marley is actually on a slightly higher level (no pun inteneded) than even those guys for the following reason. If you were to ask someone to name 10 Rock-n-Roll stars they could easily do it. If you were to ask them to name 10 Pop stars they could easily do that as well. However, ask someone to name 10 Reggae Stars and many fewer people can do that, but I guarantee that they will name Bob Marley in that category. That's how influential he was. That's how strongly he defines that genre.
But perhaps even more than that, he was a uniter of people. That's what I love most about Bob Marley. He brought people together and promoted peace. He spoke up for the less fortunate, and he tried to better the lives of the people he touched. And almost as if by magic, he continues to unite people of all backgrounds through his message of ONE LOVE even today.
